Ballroom Dresses for Sale
From LoveToKnow Dance
Ballroom dancers need to look sharp when they hit the dance floor, which is the biggest reason why ballroom dresses for sale fly off clothing racks in dancewear stores and are hot items on the Internet. One good example are famous dresses from Dancing with the Stars, some of which are made by the same designer who makes the dresses for the hit television show.
Fashions for Ballroom Dancing
While dancers wear all sorts of fancy clothing, from sequined gowns to sparkling shoes, during competitions, ballroom practice clothing is a little more toned down. For practicing ballroom dancing, gowns are seldom worn. Instead, women tend to wear simple dresses and skirts, or pants with a flashy top, to practice in. While you won't see many people at a ballroom dance class in jeans (except the men), practice clothing is much less fancy than performance clothing.
Some elements of practice clothing, like asymmetrical tops (off one shoulder or only having one strap) also show up in fancier ballroom dresses for sale for competition wear. While the gowns tend to have more sparkles and glitter, their lines are similar. In addition, practice skirts tend to be knee length, whereas performance gowns and skirts are usually floor length. Of course, the length of ballroom gowns depends on the dance one is going to do. Waltzes usually demand floor-length gowns, whereas a knee length gown is your best bet to dance the samba.
Ballroom Dresses for Sale
Ballroom dresses are quite costly. Of course, this is a good reason why some women choose to wear practice clothing to perform in. While a good practice outfit can be had for $100-$200, most ballroom gowns start around $500-$1,000. The biggest reason why performance gowns are so expensive is that they have stones sewn into them (all that sparkle has to be added to the gown). These sparkly stones are labor intensive. In addition, making the dress itself is labor intensive and requires a good pattern, accurate measurements, and a talented seamstress.
- Ballroom Dress for Less offers reasonably priced gowns in beautiful styles. Though these gowns are very reasonably priced, don't be expecting to find something less than $750. The quality of these gowns requires hard work and good materials.
- Dance Allure offers both standard and custom collections and uses Swarovski crystals in many of their ballroom gowns. These dresses are gorgeous, and have price tags to match (above $2,000).
- Ballroom Sparkle is a company offering beautiful custom designs, with custom price tags to match. The site also offers a selection of second-hand gowns for those looking for the quality of a custom gown, with a lower price tag. These used gowns can go into the $500 range, which is essentially a very good deal for a gorgeous ballroom gown.
For those with a very limited budget, sites like Amazon have a considerable collection of ballroom dance dresses and practice clothes. While some of the offerings on a mainstream site like this are in the $500 range, Amazon also has a wide selection of ballroom gowns priced at $200. While these are not covered in sewn-in stones, nor even passable as custom-made, these dresses are still absolutely beautiful. Don't forget that ballroom gowns are most often seen from a considerable distance, from which nobody will ever be able to tell if a particular dress is handmade or from a factory line.
Once you have your ballroom dress and shoes, you'll need to learn the ballroom dance steps that make the skirt twirl in that lovely way that only waltz dresses can.
