The Dancing with the Stars Tour is an event that’s in demand all across the nation, thanks to the television show’s boundless popularity.

Where It All Began

Dancing with the Stars has been on network television for six seasons, and all have provided hours of entertainment to an America that can’t seem to get enough of celebrities paired with professional ballroom dancers. With Season 6 currently under way, past seasons have included such notables as Marie Osmond, Drew Lachey, Jerry Rice, and even Wayne Newton.

Some of the celebrities came with a fair amount of dance training, however most came stumbling onto the show with two left feet. It was up to seasoned dancing pros to whip them into shape and get them ready to twirl and dip under ABC’s Monday night spotlight of a timeslot.

And shine they do, as viewers vote each week for their favorite couple, causing victories and eliminations that cause both cheers and tears.

Based upon a popular British show, America has taken the trend one step further by adding a nationwide tour featuring some of the show’s most popular performers. The rest is history.

Who’s On the Tour?

Unlike similar tours, such as American Idol, which only features the top performers of that specific past season, the Dancing with the Stars Tour combines the talents of all the seasons, giving ticket holders quite a show. In 2007, the tour hit over thirty cities, and a 2008 tour promises a comparable amount of stops.

The one catch? Before you buy a ticket, be aware that not all celebrities dance on the entire tour. Some are not touring at all, while others stick to specific regions. More specific cast information is always available on the tour’s official website, which is updated following each show season’s wrap up.

Past sponsors such as Soft Scrub have upped the popularity of the tour by adding contests such as the Dance Challenge. Here, several couples were invited to compete and be judged by an official Dancing with the Stars Tour judge before the start of the show. While there was no impressive prize given, bragging rights were worth it for many couples who came out and gave it their best shot.

Dancing With the Stars Tour Favorites

While all of the celebrities on the show are celebrated by many, there were a few favorites that continue to stand out on the tour now that their network time is over.

Sabrina Bryan

A member of Disney’s popular girl group, The Cheetah Girls, Sabrina’s ousting from the show was one of the biggest upsets in Dancing with the Stars history. Fellow cast members were stunned when she did not yield enough votes to stick around, and it is no wonder that she was chosen to shine on the tour. She continues to be a crowd favorite, with her youthful vibrancy and great attitude toward dance.

Marie Osmond

Perhaps you heard about that famous on-air collapse, or maybe you have been a fan of hers since her days on The Donnie and Marie Show. Whatever the reason, Marie Osmond continues to be in hot demand when it comes to Dancing with the Stars Tour dates. She is an accomplished writer and singer, and has even designed a line of her own dolls.

Drew Lachey

His brother may have had Jessica Simpson, but Drew has had success in his own right, first as a singer of 98 Degrees and later as a Broadway star. He’s also a proud father and enthusiastic member of the Dancing with the Stars tour.

Again, to find out if your favorite performers will be on tour in 2008, stay tuned to your touring news and the newest season of Dancing with the Stars. You never know who might show up!
