Dancing with the Stars Winners

From LoveToKnow Dance

Each week, people all around the world wonder who the latest Dancing with the Stars winners are. While only one couple is crowned the winner at the end of each season, each week's episode of the popular dance show ends with an elimination of at least one couple. All the people who are not eliminated that week are that week's winners.

Dancing with the Stars

Dancing with the Stars

This show has been running for almost ten seasons and shows no signs of stopping. Each year, professional dancers are paired up with a celebrity partner with whom they will dance their way (hopefully) to victory by becoming the latest Dancing with the Stars winners. Of course, the competition is fierce. While the professional dancer with whom one is paired for that season may seem like a large deciding factor, it's actually the celebrity's ability to adjust to the world of professional dancing that determines which couple will become the winner. Of course, musicality, grace, and agility will also go a long way!

Dancing with the Stars Winners by Season

Each season of the show, one couple is deemed the winner. While all the couples below have a certain flair on the dance floor, each couple has a distinct style that makes their dancing worthy of a first-place finish on this hit television show.

Season One: Kelly Monaco & Alec Mazo

Monaco is a well-known model and actress, perhaps best known for her roles on Baywatch, General Hospital and appearing in Playboy and Maxim. Her dancing talents proved to be equal to her acting and modeling ones as she went on to become the first ever winner of Dancing with the Stars.

Season Two: Drew Lachey & Cheryl Burke

A singer for the band 98 Degrees, Lachey proved during the second season of Dancing with the Stars that his dancing skills are every bit as good as his singing skills. The couple came in first place a majority of the weeks of season two of the show.

Season Three: Emmitt Smith & Cheryl Burke

Emmitt Smith is perhaps better known for his days in the spotlight playing for the Dallas Cowboys, but as the third celebrity winner, his dancing also deserves a great deal of credit. Earning top scores for mambo and samba, Smith sure looked like he was having a lot of fun while dancing on the show.

Season Four: Opolo Anton Ohno & Julianne Hough

Ohno and Hough earned several perfect scores, most notably for their Samba and Paso Doble. An audience favorite, it is sometimes thought that this couple was destined to win season four right from the start.

Season Five: Hélio Castroneves & Julianne Hough

This dance couple earned several perfect scores during their partnership for the show. Their most successful dances were those with quick and energetic choreography, such as the QuickStep, the Cha-Cha-Cha, and the Foxtrot.

Season Six: Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas

Figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi earned the sixth season's top prize and holds an additional honor that no other celebrity dancer on the show has yet earned: achieving a score of 90 (perfect score) in a finale of the show.

Season Seven: Brooke Burke & Derek Hough

Burke is a television personality who quickly rose to the top of the seventh season of the show. She earned, with her partner Derek Hough, several perfect scores and blew the competition out of the water almost from the first episode of the season.

Season Eight: Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas

Shawn Johnson is a seasoned gymnast, no stranger to physical movement, athletic precision, and a touch of grace to go along with the talent. This winner of the eighth season of the show wowed judges, especially earning top scores on Latin dances, such as the Argentine Tango, the Cha-Cha-Cha, and the Paso Doble.

Check these amazing dancers out in YouTube videos if you missed the original shows. While sometimes watching the whole season can be a bit disappointing in terms of the amount of talent seen, watching only the winners is an inspiring moment both for those who dance and those who love dance.
