So You Think You Can Dance Episodes
From LoveToKnow Dance
So You Think You Can Dance episodes have left viewers in suspense as they have cheered on their favorite dancers for the past four years. Memorable episodes continue to be the talk of Internet chat rooms and amongst diehard viewers, as the choreography and competition level continue to be stunning.
So You Think You Can Dance Episode Structure
Every episode of So You Think You Can Dance is structured basically the same. A multitude of dancers start out as contestants, and are assigned dance routines throughout the course of the show. From partner work to solo routines, dancers are then voted on by viewers who call in to the show, and then there is an elimination round.
During the Season One episodes, the 50 dancers who made it to Hollywood for the show taping worked with five choreographers in one week, and then the top 16 dancers were selected. After the first season, the episode format was changed so now the dancers who make it to callbacks in Las Vegas dance for the judges and the top 20 dancers are selected right then and there.
These top 20 keep their dance partner until the 10 finalists are selected. Until they are whittled down to that ten, viewers vote on a certain couple, rather than an individual. When the top 10 are chosen, viewers then vote on an individual basis rather than as duos. As the season finale comes up on the airwaves, everyone dances with each other, and it is a full out choreographed battle until the end.
On many [[So You Think You Can Dance]] episodes, guest stars also come to give performances and serve as guest judges and critics. This has brought in continued top ratings for the show, as many tune in to watch the stars as much as the incredibly skilled dancers.

Viewing an Episode in Person
Many fans ask Fox on a regular basis whether or not they can come watch So You Think You Can Dance episodes being taped. The response is yes, but with a catch – all individuals aged 14 years and older must register online for a ticketing waitlist and then when their name comes up on the list, they will be notified. Then, you may request up to four tickets. This is done on a first come, first served basis, and oftentimes you will be requesting tickets for a show that is taping less than a week away. The show does not commit to how many ticket vouchers they are able to give out each week, and so even though the tickets are free, you will have to count on a little luck to get them in your hands. For television viewers who are real fans of the show, none of these stipulations will be a problem. Enjoy the show!
